Do You Need a Twin Nursing Pillow?

Before you decide whether or not to purchase the Twin Z nursing pillow, it’s a good idea to determine whether you will really need a twin nursing pillow at all. There aren’t many options on the market, and people have been having twins since they’ve been having babies. Does anyone really NEED a nursing pillow specifically designed for twins?

The answer of course is no. Nobody needs one. But for some new twin moms, having a twin nursing pillow will really help make life easier. It all depends on how often you plan to nurse and whether or not you plan to tandem nurse your twins.

If you plan to nurse infrequently, or if you want to mostly nurse them separately, you can definitely get away without a nursing pillow. In a pinch, you can use some firm couch pillows, or even two boppy pillows, which are easier to find used or from a friend. In some ways, nursing twins separately can be easier. If you are mostly going to be nursing one at a time, then you don’t need a special pillow.

If, however, you are planning to keep your twins on the same schedule and nurse them together often, you might want to think about a special twin nursing pillow. The twin z pillow might just be the right choice for you!

Benefits of the Twin Z Pillow

NEWBORN TWINS

If you are thinking of purchasing the twin z pillow or adding it to your registry, you might be wondering if it’s worth the money. It can be hard to find this item used, so you likely will be purchasing it new. Is it really worth the somewhat expensive price tag?

Here are some of the benefits of the twin z pillow:

  • Removable washable cover or waterproof option
  • Great back support that you won’t find with other pillows
  • Large enough for your twins even as they get past the newborn stage
  • Super soft and plushy (non waterproof version)
  • Makes the best floor lounger for newborns and infants
  • Great for taking pictures of your twin babies together!

Potential Drawbacks of this Nursing Pillow

Even though this is a really great buy for twin moms who want to nurse their babies, there are some minor drawbacks to the Twin Z Pillow. Although I really did love mine, there are a few things I noticed about it:

  • Very large size that I was not expecting
  • Getting the cover off and on when you need to wash it is a huge pain
  • No pockets to store anything that some other pillows offer
  • Really not easy to get set up to nurse in without help
  • Can be pricey

These are not major drawbacks and I would definitely buy this pillow again if I had to do it over. These are simply the few drawbacks that I noticed about the pillow.
