If you are new to unschooling, you may find there aren’t that many resources in print, especially current ones. You may need to take to the internet to get the information you’re looking for. Even if you have been homeschooling or unschooling for some time, it’s always fun to get fresh ideas and a sense of community by checking out some great blogs. Today I have a list of my favorite unschooling blogs that you might want to check out!
Don’t forget to check out my post on the basics of unschooling!

Unschooling Blog #1 – Racheous
Racheous.com is a wonderful website and resource for unschooling families. Her blog contains articles centered around respectful parenting and unschooling. I have been following her for awhile, and it was one of her articles that first introduced me to the idea of childism (basically discriminating against children).
If you are an unschooling family who is also passionate about treating children with respect, this is the blog for you.
Another Great Unschooling Blog – Happiness is Here
This is another blog that I have followed for quite some time. I really credit happinessishereblog.com for giving me most of my inspiration to begin unschooling my children. I happened upon the website awhile back when looking for parenting advice, and I was mesmerized by her posts about her family and what unschooling looks like for them. You definitely don’t want to miss this one if you are considering unschooling for your family!
There is also a lot of respectful parenting information on this website as well, if that’s something that interests you. I really enjoy the articles this author writes!

John Holt GWS
As many of you may know, John Holt was a famous advocate for unschooling. There are some great books that you should definitely read by him if you are considering unschooling your kids. This website, johnholtgws.com is a wonderful resource for unschooling families. It is packed with information, as well as a blog by Patrick Farenga, an unschooling proponent who worked with the late John Holt. This website is a must on any unschooler’s list.
Unschooling Mom 2 Mom
This website, unschoolingmom2mom.com, is another very thorough website filled with valuable information for unschooling families. If you are brand new to unschooling, this is a great place to start. You’ll find blog posts, a podcast, FAQs about unschooling and more! Be sure to check out this website if you need information on unschooling for your family!
The Homeschool Mom
Ok so this isn’t technically an unschooling blog, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a great resource for unschoolers. Unschooling doesn’t mean we don’t teach our kids anything. There are some really great ideas on this website for teaching outside of just following a traditional curriculum. You can check it out at thehomeschoolmom.com.
This is also a really great resource for families who are just starting out where the kids previously went to school. You can learn ways to make the transition easier, and about how to “de-school” before you start homeschooling. I highly recommend checking this out!
Hopefully you will find some of these resources helpful! We absolutely love unschooling in our family and we hope you will too!
