What is the IXL Learning program?

So what is this IXL learning program all about? Is it an online homeschooling program? Is it a practice tool? Can it teach your kids math? Well, the IXL learning website has a lot to offer, so let me explain.

The IXL program will let your kids learn and practice skills in math, language arts, science, social studies and Spanish. For math, they also have lessons and videos to help your child learn new math skills. For language arts, there are also a variety of lesson videos to watch.

If your child is in school, or homeschooled and using one of the curriculums on the list, IXL can be used in conjunction with a bunch of popular textbooks. You can also align the IXL program to match the state standards in your state.

What Grade Levels Does the IXL Learning Program Cover?

The IXL program spans the grades of PreK through high school. For math, it starts with the preschool skills of learning to count and recognize shapes, and goes all the way through Calculus, linear equations, quadratic functions and polynomials.

The IXL language arts program starts with Pre-Kindergarten skills of learning to recognize letters and their sounds and goes all the way through high school level writing skills.

For science, they cover Kindergarten through 8th grade skills from the basics of classification to atoms and molecules, chemical reactions and biology.

The IXL learning program also covers skills in social studies, including American Government, geography, early American history and economics. They also include 7 units of Spanish language practice.

How Much Does the IXL Math and Language Arts program cost?

A subscription to the IXL learning program is surprisingly affordable. Choose the subscription that best matches your family’s needs. If you only need it for math or language arts, you can purchase a single subject subscription for just $9.95 a month.

Does IXL Offer a Free Trial?

Unfortunately, if you go to the IXL website, they do not offer a free trial of their program. So you’d normally have to pay for at least once month of the IXL program to be able to test it out and see what it’s all about.

However, I do have a link for you for a 7 day free trial! So if you want to test this program out for 7 days before you decide if this is something that you want to purchase, make sure to use my link for the 7 day free trial!

What is the IXL Diagnostics Arena?

Probably my favorite part of the IXL learning program is the diagnostics arena. This is where you can get an accurate picture of your child’s current level in various math and language arts skills. Just have them enter the diagnostics arena periodically to keep this up to date.

What’s really great about the IXL real time diagnostics tool is that it will recommend specific skills to practice based on your child’s level in each area. So now only will it help identify any gaps in your child’s learning, but it will also help them improve in exactly the area they need to.

Will This Program Really Help My Child?

There’s a lot of research that you can read about on the IXL website to help you understand how this learning program can benefit students. Whether your child is using this to help them do better in school, or to improve their skills in a homeschool setting, the benefits of this program are measurable. As a homeschool mom, it’s been very helpful for me to have my daughter use the diagnostics tool periodically so I can keep track of her progress in math and language arts.

But if you’re not sure if this program is right for you, why not take advantage of the 7 day free trial before you decide? That way you can make sure this is something your kids are going to like before you spend any money on it.
