Global Town School Basics

First let’s go over some basics. Global Town School is a fully accredited online private school for students in grades 6 through 12. It’s a great option for students who want more freedom in how, when, and where they learn — while still getting a high-quality education that prepares them for college and beyond.

The school is built around flexibility — students can work at their own pace and on their own schedule, without required log-in times or daily classes. But even with that level of independence, students still get regular support from teachers and a personal success coach who helps guide their progress throughout the year.

Global Town School was designed for students who want their education to fit their lives — not the other way around. That could mean a student pursuing acting, competitive sports, or music…or a student who simply wants to move faster, dive deeper into their interests, or avoid the time constraints of a traditional school.

It’s also a great option for high-performing students who are looking for a challenge, or for families who want a more individualized experience with consistent support. And if you’re an international student looking to earn a US diploma, Global Town School could be a great option for you as well.

Enrollment at Global Town School

Students can enroll at Global Town School at any time throughout the year, although their admissions process is selective. There will be a review of the student’s academic history, a student and parent interview, and a check for the skills students need to succeed in this kind of flexible, self-paced environment — things like self-discipline, organization, and goal orientation.

This model doesn’t work for every student, and the admissions process is really focused on making sure it’s a good fit.

There are three enrollment options at Global Town School. Students can enroll Full-Time, Part-time, or they can enroll in their coaching only program. Full time students at Global Town School will take all of their courses through the school, earn an accredited high school diploma, and get access to success coaching, teacher support, and college prep services.

Students looking for just one or two courses to supplement their education can enroll part-time, and even take advantage of their AP or dual enrollment courses. And for students who attend other schools or are homeschooled but want to work with a Global Town School success coach, coaching-only students get all the benefits of the one-on-one coaching program without enrolling in any classes.

Success Coaching at Global Town School

And before we get into the courses and curriculum, I want to take a moment to talk about the success coaching, because that is a really special aspect of this online school. Every full-time student at Global Town School is matched with a dedicated success coach. This coach will meet with the student regularly to set goals, develop strategies, and build skills like time management, motivation, and organization.

Coaches also help students create a long-term academic portfolio and connect them with outside opportunities — including summer programs, competitions, internships, research opportunities, and more.

In 11th and 12th grade, the coaching focus shifts to college applications — selecting schools, writing essays, and navigating the entire admissions process. Families often pay thousands of dollars for this kind of support elsewhere, but at Global Town School, it’s included in the full-time tuition.

There are even students who enroll in coaching-only — they don’t take any courses at Global Town School, but work with a success coach for personalized, ongoing academic guidance and help with planning for college. This service at the high school level is commonly known as college admission coaching.

Global Town School Courses

Okay so now let’s talk about the curriculum. Global Town School offers over 150 high school courses and around 120 middle school courses, including core subjects like English, math, science, and social studies as well as electives such as psychology, entrepreneurship, personal finance, computer science, design, and more.

They also offer AP and honors courses, and for students looking to get a head start on college, they offer dual enrollment through Arizona State University.

Advanced students can move ahead when ready and access courses much sooner than they might be able to in a traditional school setting. For example, a 7th-grade student could take high school geometry, which might not be possible in a traditional school because of scheduling limitations.

Students can also design independent studies or request custom courses if they have a specific interest.

All of the courses at Global Town School are asynchronous and self-paced — there’s no set calendar, and no required meeting times. Students move through lessons on their own schedule, and every course includes instructional material, interactive assignments, quizzes, and teacher feedback.

While there are no live daily classes, full-time students meet regularly with their teachers in one-on-one check-ins. These meetings help review progress, answer questions, and offer extra help if needed. Teachers are also available to meet outside those sessions whenever students need more support, and students can message their teachers at any time through the learning management system.

If a student wants to re-take an assignment, redo a quiz, or submit something to raise their grade — that’s always allowed. The goal is mastery, not just getting a grade and moving on. There are also no set semesters, so once a student finishes a course, they can get started right away on the next course.

Curriculum at Global Town School

Now I just want talk about what the curriculum at Global Town School is like.

Each course begins with a course introduction which must be completed before students can access the lessons. The lessons are a mix of text with graphics as well as some videos to watch, which include a video transcript for those who prefer to have text to follow along with. All of the text can be read aloud for those who need it, including the text for the quizzes and tests.

So students would just follow along with each lesson, reading the text and watching any included videos. At the end of the lesson, there will be a quiz to check for understanding of the topic, which students must complete before moving on. The courses also include a checkpoint, which is like a test at the end of each section. There is also a final exam at the end of the course.

There are also some opportunities for class discussions in the courses. Students are asked to respond to a question and submit it to the discussion board, and this is part of the course and will be graded. There are also several projects that must be completed as part of their final grade.

Faculty and Staff

So that’s what the curriculum is like at Global Town School. Now before we talk about the tuition, I just wanted to talk to you a bit about the faculty and staff at this online school.

Global Town School is a newer school, which was founded in 2023, but the team here is not new to education. Their founder has worked as a teacher, principal, and superintendent for both public and private schools, and he has hand-picked his team to include seasoned educators with graduate degrees from institutions such as MIT, Georgia Tech, The Ohio State University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the University of Southern California, among others. Some have written multiple textbooks in their content areas, while others have taught overseas and hold various languages, as well as positions in teaching and administration.

And if you’re wondering about the success of students at this online school, graduates have been accepted to schools such as Michigan State University, George Washington University, University of California Davis, The Ohio State University, Penn State, and many more.

Global Town School Tuition

Now let’s talk about the tuition at Global Town School. Full-time tuition is $16,000 per year for high school and $12,000 for middle school. Part-time courses are $600 each — including AP and dual enrollment courses. And the Coaching-only packages range from $3,000 to $9,000 depending on the grade level.

There are no additional fees, and dual enrollment through Arizona State University is included for full-time students. And if you’re enrolled full time and want to complete more coursework in one year so you can graduate high school early, there is no extra charge. Tuition covers a full year from when you enroll, so your student can complete as many courses in that time as they are capable of.

And once you enroll, your tuition price is locked in. So even if the tuition goes up, you’ll still pay the same yearly tuition until graduation as when you first enrolled.

There are also generous scholarship options available at Global Town School. You can actually fill out a short form on their website before applying to find out how much of a scholarship your student is likely to receive. That link is on the tuition page and it’s worth checking out. That way you can know up front what type of a scholarship you may qualify for before even applying to the school

They also offer automatic 30% discounts to military and educator families.

And if you mention during enrollment that you heard about Global Town School from Amanda Melrose, they’ll extend that same 30% discount to your family. And yes — that can be combined with a scholarship, so the total savings can be significant.

So hopefully this helped you learn about the Global Town School online school for middle and high school. This seems like such a great option for families who want to prepare their kids for college while also allowing them the flexibility to pursue their outside interests.

What really stood out to me the most about this school is the personal success coach that every student gets to work with. I think that is something that could really benefit all students, whether they are enrolled here full time or not. It also looks like a solid curriculum, and there are real teachers here, so your student isn’t going to just be left on their own to work through the curriculum without any teacher support.

If you have any questions on Global Town School, or just a general question for me, please let me know in the comments and I’ll be happy to answer. And if you do end up checking out this school, don’t forget to mention my name so you can get the discount! If you combine that with a scholarship, you can really save a lot of money!
