Free Christian Online Homeschooling Program – Easy Peasy All in One

First on our list of Christian online homeschooling programs is Easy Peasy All in One Homeschool. This is a completely free Christian homeschooling program that can be done entirely online, and includes everything you need to homeschool your child from pre school all the way through high school.

I have to say, this program really does offer a lot for a free homeschooling program. It’s really easy to sign up, and you get a lot of customization options. You can have your child take a placement test to help determine their level for various subjects, which is really helpful when you’re just getting started. They offer all the courses you would expect from a complete homeschooling curriculum, including reading, language arts, math, history, science, bible and more.

Once you get the schedule all set up the way you want, your child will just log on each day to complete their lessons. Once they’re done for the day, you as the parent will be responsible for marking the lessons complete. I do have a full review and walkthrough on my YouTube channel of the Easy Peasy All In One Homeschool program, so be sure to check that out if you want to learn more.

Monarch Online Homeschooling Program

Next on our list of Christian online homeschooling programs is Monarch.  This is a complete online homeschooling program from Alpha Omega Publications, the creators of the Lifepac and Horizons print homeschool curriculums. They also own Ignite Christian Academy, an online private Christian school. And if you’re looking for a good online homeschooling program that more closely resembles some of the popular secular programs, Monarch might be a good choice for you.

The Monarch online homeschooling program offers a really great free trial. You can get a 30 day free trial with no credit card required. That kind of free trial is hard to find. After that, the program is $39.95 a month for the 5 main subjects, or $399.95 if you pay for a year up front. Electives are an additional $9.95 a month or $99.95 a year.

Lifepac, Horizons, and Monarch Homeschool

Monarch includes all the main curriculum you would expect in a Christian homeschooling program, and of course there is a bible course. They also have a lot of interesting elective options such as Spanish, career exploration, personal finance and French.

With Monarch, you get the chance to customize exactly which lessons your child will take, and the pace of the curriculum. Your child will log on and do all of their work online, and Monarch will grade 85% of that work. It’s a little bit complicated to set up, and I do have a full video on my YouTube channel that will walk you through all the steps. So if this is a program you’re interested in, I hope you’ll give that video a watch.

BJU Press Christian Homeschooling Program

The next Christian online homeschooling program I want to share with you is BJU press. This is an online video homeschool program that includes everything you need to homeschool your children using a Christian curriculum. They have recently revamped their program and it is now better than ever. And one of the things you might like about BJU press is that it includes textbooks in addition to the video lessons.

With BJU press you get some really nice new scheduling tools to help take some of the stress out of planning your child’s school work. You can view course progress, upcoming lessons and assignments, create reports and more. How you plan your schedule is up to you!

BJU press is a little more expensive than some of the other online homeschooling programs out there, but for what you get it’s probably worth the price. For example, if you choose 4th grade online with textbooks, it will cost $1049. They do have a payment plan option if you’re interested. You’ll get all of the core courses and 180 days of lessons. If you’re having trouble picking one grade, they do allow you to adjust the grade level up or down for up to 2 subjects. So there’s a little flexibility there.

Schoolhouseteachers.com

Next is an online homeschooling program that you may not have heard of called Schoolhouseteachers.com. This one is a little bit different, but I think you’re going to like it. You get everything you need to homeschool using a Christian curriculum from Pre-K through high school, and your membership includes access to everything for all of your children in one payment.

With Schoolhouseteachers.com, a lot of the work will be done offline, but everything you need can be accessed from the website. You will probably need a good printer to print off some of these materials though.

Schoolhouseteachers.com includes over 25,000 video lessons, great planning tools, and all the core courses you would expect in a complete Christian homeschooling curriculum. They also offer a bunch of great elective options.

The cost of Schoolhouseteachers.com depends on how often you want to pay, and whether you want just PreK through 8th grade, or Pre-K through 12th grade. If you pay monthly, the Pre-K – 8th price is just $22.97 a month, and the Pre-K – 12th option is $29.97 a month. They do offer discounts if you purchase the quarterly or yearly options.

Ambleside Online Christian Homeschooling Program

If you’re interested in a Christian homeschooling program using the Charlotte Mason method, you might want to check out Ambleside Online. This is a completely free online homeschooling program that provides pretty much everything you need to get started in homeschooling your children using the Charlotte Mason method. This method relies heavily on literature, and they have links to as many free online resources as possible so that you can homeschool in this method without having to spend a lot of money.

If you go to the Ambleside Online website, you can learn all about the Charlotte Mason approach to education. You can also print scheduling materials, access their booklist for each level, and view the curriculum for each year.

This can be a little complicated to understand, especially if you’re new to this style of homeschooling. I do have a full video walkthrough on my YouTube channel that should help you understand how to use this resource in your homeschool.

Abeka Academy Video Homeschool Program

Similar to the BJU press video homeschool program is Abeka Academy. This is another Christian online homeschooling program that uses textbooks combined with video lessons. Unlike with BJU press however, Abeka Academy offers a free trial of their video lessons, so you can watch up to 25 hours of their streaming video lessons before you decide if you want to buy this program or not.

If you do decide to purchase the program, you will need the print textbooks in addition to the video lessons. You can choose to purchase either one semester or a full year, and they do offer a 10 month payment plan if you want to spread your payments out. Unfortunately, they do not have the option to change the grade levels on any of the subjects, which is kind of a bummer.

From what I hear, this is an intensive program. For those that have used the Abeka curriculum before, this is the same exact curriculum. The only difference with the video homeschooling program is that instead of the parent teaching the lessons, the lessons are taught online via prerecorded videos.

I do have a full review of the Abeka Academy program on my YouTube channel. Just try not to be bothered by me mispronouncing the name! I still have yet to hear anyone say Abeka out loud – but I’m taking my viewers word for it that it’s Abekka, not Abeeka.

Bonus Christian Online Homeschooling Program

Now before I tell you what I really think about these programs, I just have one more program that I wanted to share with you that you might want to consider using in your homeschool. I was recently doing a review of 10 online reading and language arts programs, and I came across a language arts program called Light Sail. This is a complete online language arts program that I think you will love because of the extensive child safety features it offers.

It includes faith based content which makes it great for Christian homeschoolers. But what I really think is great is that you can really personalize the material that is available to your children by setting the child safety controls. You can turn on or off all kinds of sensitive subjects that your child might not be ready for. So you can feel good about what your child is reading. And as a reading and language arts program, I think it’s really a great program. You can even get a 7 day free trial with no credit card required.

Best and Worst Christian Online Homeschooling Programs

Okay so now let me tell you which programs I like best on the list, and which I don’t recommend. Well partly that’s going to depend on what you’re looking for. If you want a Christian online homeschooling program that most closely resembles the popular secular online programs, I would go with Monarch. Everything is done online, and it does most of the grading for you as well. The only part you have to grade is the work that is not done by multiple choice. It’s comprehensive and affordable, and I think it’s a good program, although maybe not as user friendly as some of the secular programs.

If you’re looking for something free, I would recommend Easy Peasy All in One Homeschool. They really do have a nice program that is also done entirely online, and it’s amazing that it’s free. I don’t think you will go wrong with that program.

And for my least favorite on the list? I’m going to have to say Abeka Academy. The videos are rather long and a bit old fashioned, which some kids are not going to like. It’s also rather expensive, and I’ve heard a lot of grown homeschoolers complain about the Abeka curriculum in general just being too intensive. I also don’t like that you can’t adjust the grade level on any of the subjects when you purchase the full grade level curriculum.

If you have any questions on any of these programs, or want to share your experience to help others make the best decision possible, please let me know in the comments. Thank you so much!
